Prof.Xiangsheng Chen

Shenzhen University; Chinese Academy of Engineering; Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE)

Biography:

Prof. Xiangsheng Chen is a professor、academician and RAE foreign ember. Xiangsheng Chen is a Chinese engineer and a famous expert in the field of tunnel and underground construction, urban rail transit engineering, special geotechnical construction, and well construction. He is a recipient of the Special Government Allowance of the State Council, China and a leading talent of Shenzhen.

In 1978, he entered Huainan Institute of Mining (now Anhui University of Science and Technology), majoring in well construction. In 1986, he was a visiting scholar at the Technical University of Berlin, where he studied tunnel engineering under the guide of Prof. Eischmir. He continued his career at Ruhr-University Bochu, and focused on the research of the artificial frozen soil under the instruction of Prof. H.L. Jessberger. In 1991, he studied English at Shanghai International Studies University before serving as By-Fellow Professor at the University of Cambridge. He continued his research there on soil engineering in cold regions, with the guidance from Prof. Andrew N. Schofield, Previous President of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). He also received his Doctor of Engineering degree from Tsinghua University. 

He returned to China in February 1994 and continued to work as deputy director and later director at the Beijing Mine Research Institute, Coal Research Institute. In February 2001, he was recruited by Shenzhen Metro Company Co., Ltd and worked there for seven years. In March 2018, he was hired by Shenzhen University as a professor and dean of the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering.

Over the past 40 years, Chen has completed more than 60 research projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and National Programs for Science and Technology Development. He also presided over more than 60 major projects at national or provincial level, with a total investment of more than 167 billion yuan. His previous honors include three National Science and Technology Progress Awards; 14 awards at provincial and ministerial level; four China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Awards; one Mao Yisheng Railway Engineer Award; and one Entrepreneurship Award in Science and Technology. He has published nine monographs, five of which were authored by him, and delivered over 100 papers at home and abroad.

Prof. Jun Teng

Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen

Biography:

Jun Teng, professor of the Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, and expert with special allowance from the State Council, presided over 1 national major scientific research instrument development project, 1 key project of the National Science and Technology Support Plan, 1 key special project of the National Research and Development Plan, 1 major project of the National Natural Science Foundation, 2 key projects, and 7 general projects, Participated in one major international (Sino-US) cooperative research project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Main social part-time jobs include the vice chairman of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering, the executive director and vice chairman of the Professional Committee of Structural Health Monitoring and Anti-vibration Control of the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, and the vice chairman of the Editorial Committee of Engineering Seismic and Strengthening and Reconstruction; Members of the National Natural Science Foundation's panel of experts. Teng Jun put forward the disaster-resistant structural system and design theory based on the optimal failure mode, built a complete set of structural seismic analysis and evaluation platform, established a systematic theory, technology and method of structural disaster monitoring and control, and carried out the practice of major projects, in which the complete set of structural health monitoring technology was applied to the National Swimming Center "Water Cube", Shenzhen Citizen Center, Vanke Center, Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, etc; The complete technology of structural vibration control has been applied to Guangzhou Tower, Shenzhen Jingji 100, wutong Mountain TV Tower, etc. The structural seismic theory and methods have been applied to the seismic performance-based design of dozens of out of gauge buildings. It won 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and 6 first prizes of the provincial and ministerial level. He has published 2 monographs, participated in the compilation of 3 national standards, more than 10 invention patents, published more than 300 papers, and included 270 papers in SCI and EI.

Senior Engineer Guanghua Yang

Guangdong Research Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower

Biography:

Guanghua Yang is Senior Engineer, Doctoral Supervisor, and Registered Civil Engineer (geotechnical engineering; water conservancy and hydropower engineering). Currently he serves as Honorary Dean of GRIWH; Head of Guangdong Research Center of Geotechnical Engineering; and Chief Science Advisor of Water Resources Department of Guangdong Province. In 2018, he was selected as an expert in engineering survey and design by the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong Province. 

Dr. Yang had a long career in geotechnical engineering and he was the speaker of the 24th Huang Wenxi Lecture, the highest-ranking lecture in geotechnical engineering in China. During his scientific career, he has received many awards and honors, including: Six Science and Technology Progress Awards; Two Science and Technology Awards;Recipient of the Special Government Allowance of the State Council, China;  Mao Yisheng Youth Award for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; National Advanced Worker in Science and Technology;  “5151 Talent” granted by the Ministry of Water Resources, China; Top-100 Talent in South Guangdong; Ding Ying Science and Technology Award;  National Advanced Worker in China’s Water Conservancy Systems.

He is also holding various positions while serving as a part-time supervisor of PhD and MSc students at Wuhan University and South China University of Technology: Associate Editor of Chinese Journal of Rock Mechanics and Engineering; Editorial Board Member of Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering and Rock and Soil Mechanics; Deputy Director of Guangdong Expert Committee on Public Emergencies;Deputy Director of the Geotechnical Mechanics Committee, Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics; Deputy Director of the Foundation Pit Engineering Committee, the Architectural Society of China; Standing Director of Chinese Institution of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, China Civil Engineering Society; Deputy Director of Special Committee on the Strength and Constitutive Relations of Soils, China Civil Engineering Society; Deputy Director of the Geomechanics Committee, Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society; Chairman of Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering;  Chairman of Guangdong Society for Rock Mechanics & Engineering; Deputy Chairman of Guangdong Hydraulic Engineering Society; Deputy Chairman of Guangdong Civil Engineering Society.

Among his pioneering works are the constitutive theory for soils, deep foundation pit excavation, foundation engineering, and slope stability analysis, all of which have contributed to the advancement of related disciplines and the industries.

In addition, he was appointed as the head and participated in hundreds of projects related to engineering design and consultancy, including: the research on deep-water cofferdam of Phase II of the Three Gorges Project; the Islands and Tunnel Project of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge; the Dongshen Water Supply Project; the Construction of Guangzhou Metro; the Feilaixia Hydro-junction.

As a team leader, he is engaged to assist during emergencies or to investigate serious incidents, including the collapse of Guangzhou metro tunnelling on Kangwang Road, the 2018 Foshan Metro collapse, and damaged reservoirs after the Great Sichuan earthquake. 

Dr. Yang has published nearly 300 papers. He has chaired three projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has edited two local standards of Guangdong Province, and co-edited and reviewed several local standards of Guangdong and Shenzhen. He has supervised more than 40 PhD and Master students.

Prof. Jinhui Li

Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen

Biography:

Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), PhD supervisor, and Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education. She is the lead recipient of the First Prize of Natural Science of Guangdong Province, the Young Scientist Award of the International Association for Geotechnical Safety, and the AGS Geotechnical Award of the Hong Kong Association of Geotechnical Engineering and Geotechnical Environment. She has presided over more than 30 scientific research projects including the key projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Research and Development Program, Lloyd's Register Foundation Chairman Project, etc. She has published 110 articles, more than 60 SCI-indexed articles, 2 monographs and textbooks in English, and 9 authorized national invention patents and software copyrights. She is an associate editor of COMPUTERS & GEOTECHNICS, Journal of Ocean Engineering and Marine Energy, and an editorial board member of GEORISK. She is currently the Secretary General of the International Society for Geotechnical Safety (ISGS), Director of the Technical Committee on Machine Learning and Big Data of ISGE (TC309), Director of the Technical Committee on Marine Engineering Geology of the International Association of Engineering Geology and Environment (C34), Director of the Committee on Engineering Risk Assessment and Management of ISGE (TC304), etc.

Prof. Ping Tan

Guangzhou University

Biography:

Ping Tan, researcher, doctoral supervisor. Graduated from the School of Civil Engineering of Hunan University in June 2000 and received a doctorate in engineering. From February 2002 to December 2005, he engaged in postdoctoral research in structural engineering at the University of Washington in St Louis and The City College of New York, respectively. Currently, he is the dean of the School of Civil Engineering of Guangzhou University and the executive director of the Engineering Earthquake Research Center, as well as the director of disaster prevention and mitigation engineering and protection engineering disciplines. For many years, he has been committed to theoretical and academic research and engineering application practice of vibration isolation and intelligent control of engineering structures, one of the leading research fields in civil engineering. He has presided over more than 20 national level projects such as 135 national key research and development projects, and has been responsible for dozens of national major engineering projects such as vibration control of the Guangzhou Tower. He has published nearly 300 domestic and foreign journal articles, including more than 130 included by SCI and EI, authorized 81 international and domestic patents (including 38 invention patents), and edited more than 10 international and domestic standards. He has won two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (second and third respectively) and five provincial and ministerial level science and technology progress awards. Instructed students to win the "Internet plus" National Silver Award. He has successively been selected as the leading technology talents of the first special support plan of Guangdong Province, the new century talents of the Ministry of Education, the experts with special allowances from the State Council, the national ten million talents project and young and middle-aged experts with special contributions, the leading talents of the national high-level talents special support plan, and other talent projects.

Prof. Weilie Zou

Wuhan University

Biography:

Weilie Zou is Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Wuhan University (WHU), where he served as the former Vice-President of School of Civil Engineering. 

Prof. Zou is currently holding the following positions: Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Rock Mechanics in Hydraulic Engineering (Wuhan University), Ministry of Education, China; Executive Director of China Technical Association on Geosynthetics (CTAG);  Deputy Director of CTAG Reinforced Earth Committee; Member of CTAG Unsaturated Soils and Special Soils Committee; Member of Rock and Soil Mechanics Committee, the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics; Executive Director of Highway and Transportation Society of Hubei Province;  Member of Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering and Rock and Soil Mechanics.

He presided over 6 General Projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China; 1 “863 Program”; and 1 National Key Research and Development Program. He has published 100+ papers. His research findings were compiled into 2 national standards (coded as GB), including Technical Code for Ground Treatment of Hydraulic Fill (No. GB51064-2015).  His previous honors include Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education (First prize); Science and Technology Progress Award of Hubei Province (First prize); Chinese Dayu Water Science and Technology Progress Award (Second prize); and Science and Technology Award of China Highway and Transportation Society (Second prize).

Biography:

Linwang Su, major in structural engineering, doctor, professor-level senior engineer, warehousing expert in the technical expert database of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and senior technical expert of CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Bureau, was selected as the fourth "Top Ten Excellent Youth of CCCC". 19 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, 4 CCCC awards; 7 national invention patents and 13 utility models were obtained; 1 first-level construction method of the Ministry of Communications; Published more than 40 relevant academic papers; Participated in the preparation of 6 industrial specifications.

Prof. Xiaoqiang Gu

Tongji University

Biography:

Xiaoqiang Gu is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Tongji University, and a winner of the National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars Program. Mainly engaged in teaching and scientific research in fine analysis and control of deformation in geotechnical engineering, soil dynamics, and geotechnical seismic engineering. Nearly 50 SCI papers have been published in journals such as Geotechnique and JGGE, and one paper has won the annual best citation award from the international SCI journal Granular Matter. It is the main editor (co editor) of three standards and specifications. Presided over 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects and over 20 other vertical and horizontal projects. Preside over or participate in the analysis of soil pressure and deformation control of deep tunnels and ultra deep shafts in the Suzhou River section of Shanghai, as well as the environmental micro vibration analysis of major projects such as the national "13th Five Year Plan" major scientific and technological infrastructure, the Shanghai Hard X-ray Free Electron Laser Device Tunnel, and the Beijing New Generation High Energy Synchronous Radiation Light Source (HEPS). The project achievements won the second prize of the 2017 Shanghai Technological Invention Award and the 2018 Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award. He also serves as the deputy editor in chief of the international SCI journal EJECE and a member of the TC102 Technical Committee of the International Association of Indigenous Experts. He has received honors such as the "Dawn" Scholar of Shanghai, the Shanghai Youth May 4th Medal, and so on.

Prof. Wenjie Zheng

Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology

Biography:

Wenjie Zheng is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, director of the Geotechnical Teaching and Research Office, and leader of the Special Soil Mechanics and Engineering Disaster Prevention Team. Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Taipei University of Science and Technology. He used to be a senior engineer in the Hong Kong branch of Arup Engineering Consultants. In 2017, he was selected as one of the first batch of outstanding young talents from ordinary universities in Shaanxi Province, and in 2019, he was selected as a member of the TC213 Scour and Erosion Technical Committee of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, a member of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, a member of the Shaanxi Society of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering, and a member of the Professional Civil Engineer Qualification Review Committee of the British Society of Materials, Minerals, and Mining, He is a professional member of several international authoritative societies such as the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, the International Society of Rock Mechanics, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the British Society of Materials, Minerals, and Mining, the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, the Hong Kong Society of Civil Engineers, the Hong Kong Highway Society, and the Journal of the British Society of Civil Engineers, Geotechnical Research Deputy editor in chief or editorial board member of international journals such as Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology. In 2017, he was awarded the Outstanding Reviewer Award by Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, and in 2019, he was awarded the Outstanding Reviewer Award by the International Journal of Geomechanics, a journal of the American Society of Civil Engineers, The series of books on soft soil tunnel construction and consolidation improvement technology compiled by the Institute were selected for the annual high impact research by Springer Nature Chinese authors (covering over 500 articles in total in disciplines such as chemical materials, clinical medicine, computers, geoscience and environment, engineering, humanities and social sciences, etc.). Through years of accumulated scientific research achievements, more than 200 papers have been published, and more than 100 papers have been included in SCI and EI, including 15 highly cited papers from ESI and 2 hot papers from ESI. He has been invited to preside over ASCE Geo-Institute international conferences and conduct special invited reports for more than 10 times. Nearly 20 national patents have been granted, and a number of patented technologies have been successfully applied to the development and utilization of underground space in large cities in geotechnical engineering, mining, metallurgy, and other industries, as well as the restoration and treatment of contaminated sites and landmark engineering demonstrations.

Prof. Rui Chen

Biography:

Rui Chen, currently a professor and doctoral advisor at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), has long been engaged in research on unsaturated soil mechanics and seepage characteristics, geological and geotechnical disasters, environmental and ecological geotechnical engineering. He has presided over more than 30 scientific research projects, published more than 100 academic papers, including more than 50 papers collected by SCI, and authorized more than 20 invention patents.

Prof. Lingling Zeng

Zhejiang University of Technology

Biography:

Lingling Zeng, Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor, was selected in the Young Changjiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education in 2021. Her main research interests are foundation treatment, basic properties and intrinsic relationships of soils, and environmental geotechnics. She is a member of Soft Soil Engineering Committee of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of China Civil Engineering Society, a member of Environmental Geotechnical Committee of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of China Civil Engineering Society, a member of Soil Ontogenetic Relation and Strength Theory Committee of China Civil Engineering Society, a member of Dredging and Mud Treatment and Utilization Committee of China Water Resources Society, a member of Engineering Geology Youth Working Committee of China Geological Society, and a member of Environmental Geotechnical Committee of China Geological Society. She is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Civil Construction and Environment, and she has hosted several national natural science funds.

Prof. Huafu Pei

Dalian University of Technology

Biography:

Huafu Pei, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Winner of the National Excellent Youth Fund, Director of the Engineering Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Emergency Management Center, has long served as a review expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a review expert of the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Education, and a degree thesis review expert of the Ministry of Education. Currently, he is the Deputy Director of the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory for Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, a member of the Site Monitoring Technical Committee (TC220) of the International Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, the Executive Director and Deputy Secretary General of the Geological and Geotechnical Intelligent Monitoring Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, a member of the Engineering Risk and Insurance Research Branch of the Chinese Society of Geotechnical Engineering, and a member of the Landslide and Debris Flow Prevention and Control Special Committee of the Chinese Society of Soil and Water Conservation Member of the Special Committee for Geotechnical Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction of the Chinese Seismological Society, person in charge of first-class courses in Liaoning Province, editorial board member of the journal Geoenvironmental Disaster, and deputy editor in chief of the journal Frontiers in Built Environment Geotechnical Section. He has published more than 80 academic papers, with the H-factor of 21 (Web of Science).

Biography:

Yang Wu, Professor, Master Supervisor, School of civil engineering, Guangzhou University, and young outstanding talents of the "Hundred Talents Program" of Guangzhou University. Presided over a number of national and municipal research projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation general project, youth project, Guangdong basic and applied basic research foundation general project of natural science foundation, Guangzhou Science and technology plan Municipal School joint project, etc. He has long served as the reviewer of the following SCI and Chinese Journals: Canadian geotechnical journal, soil dynamic and earthquake engineering, International Journal of geomechanics, Geotextiles and geomembranes, marine and petroleum geology, granular matter, Journal of natural gas science and engineering, ASTM International - Journal of testing and evaluation, marine Georesources & geotechnology, Journal of geotechnical engineering, Journal of civil and environmental engineering. 33 SCI journal papers were published, of which 29 were published as the first author or corresponding author (Including several highly cited papers of ESI).

Xuehua Chen, President

Guangzhou Jintu Geotechnical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd.

Biography:

Chen Xuehua, Chairman of Guangzhou Jintu Geotechnical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., Doctor of Geotechnical Engineering from Central South University, First Class Registered Structural Engineer, Executive Vice Chairman of Guangdong Province Trenchless Association, Member of the Academic Committee of China Underground Space Engineering Society, and Technical Committee Member of the Expert Committee of the Sino US Joint Trenchless Engineering Research Center. We have been committed to promoting the research, promotion, application, design consultation, engineering construction, standard formulation, and scientific research of the "mechanical method pushing and excavation technology" in underground engineering for a long time. I have led/participated in the compilation of over 20 national standards and specifications, owned over 50 patents of various types, published 4 academic monographs, and won 5 provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards. Undertaked a major special research project in Guangdong Province: the construction technology of rectangular pipe jacking and curved pipe curtain excavation for subway stations; Presided over the scientific research of the National Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development's technology demonstration project: rectangular top pipe of the Zhuhai Xingye Expressway (northern section). He has presided over and completed a number of difficult projects, such as the first vehicle tunnel crossing the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal with ultra shallow overburden, the first highway crossing, various types of subway overpasses, horizontal/vertical curves and other rectangular pipe jacking projects with more than 300 items. We have conquered multiple key technologies for large-section and long-distance rectangular pipe jacking, solved multiple technical difficulties in controlling the settlement of rectangular pipe jacking in ultra-shallow soil, water rich sand and gravel, and soft soil layers, and filled the industry gap in promoting the application of multiple rectangular pipe jacking.

Biography:

Bingxiang Yuan, male, is a doctor (post), professor, and “Youth 100 A” of the Guangdong University of Technology. He works as a letter evaluation expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Shaanxi Province, and Zhejiang Province; a member of the Academic Committee of Pile Foundation of China Civil Engineering Society; a director of the Red Layer Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering; a member of the Professional Committee of Soil Ontogeny and Strength Theory of the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of China Civil Engineering Society; a deputy director of the Youth Committee of the Guangdong Society of Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering; an editorial board member of the SCI journal, Advances in Civil Engineering.
